Aaron is married to Emily and they have one child name Karis. Aaron has a Bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University in Information Technologies and a Master of Arts in Youth Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently serving as a youth pastor in Fort Worth, Texas. Aaron is passionate about connecting the next generation with the Gospel through the church. The goal of his ministry is to make disciples and then to equip them to make disciples and for them to change the world.

Discipleship is the hardest, least flashy, most frustrating part of youth ministry but it reaps the greatest rewards. Too often youth workers are busy just trying to survive unreasonable pastors, parents, and church members to develop a strategy to disciple kids. We often let camp, retreats, and conferences do this for us. Kids who modified their behavior so they can be accepted within the spiritual community is not a disciple of Jesus, they are a follower of the program. They nod their head, raise their hands, and say amen at the right time. I desire more for the youth of this generation.

Personal

“I grew up in a Christian home, I accepted Christ when I was 7 and baptized that night. I attended church camps and youth Bible studies where God really had an impact on my life. As I got older I desired being “liked by my friends” over being “loved by my Savior” and slowly I started to act like out. I turned to the world’s system which taught me how to dress, and treat people… This was polar opposite to everything my faith in Christ taught me as a child. During this transition I turned my back on God and as a result hurt a lot of people in the process, BUT God still was working on me by surrounding me with people that totally changed my thinking on what it meant to be a Christian.

I know youth pastors and youth workers make an impact, because youth workers made an impact on me. Growing up, I had two youth pastors and numerous youth workers who all impacted me in different ways. My first youth pastor taught me the basics of faith. The second encouraged my love of reading and gave me a passion to study the Bible, and imparted to me a heart for reaching out those who do not know Christ.

When I’m not doing ministry or hanging out with my family, I can probably be found creating resources for youth leaders. As far as sports go, I’m an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and love golf.
